| Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved, long lasting but not permanent filler that is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite beads suspended in carboxymethylcellulose gel. These tiny calcium microspheres form a scaffold to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by the body.
Radiesse is very long lasting and is extremely good for volumizing the mid and lower face, and because of its longevity, it is one of the most popluar fillers used in our Vancouver cosmetic surgery practice. It can be used for the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, cheek augmentation, chin augmentation, jaw line contouring, mental crease augmentation (chin groove), nasal defects, and hands. We find it to be very useful in individuals who have a very high metabolic rate and who seem to have difficulty keeping less sturdy fillers in their faces over a desired period of time. Radiesse can last up to a year, but typically we see it lasting anywhere from 8-10 months.
