Radiesse

Radiesse Treatments in Vancouver

Radiesse is very long lasting and is extremely good for volumizing the mid and lower face, forehead and temples for anti-aging concerns and because of its longevity, is one of the most popular fillers used in our Vancouver cosmetic surgery practice. It is similar in many ways to the Juvederm family of soft tissue fillers.

Other uses include:

It can be used for the nasolabial folds

  • marionette lines
  • cheek augmentation
  • chin augmentation
  • jaw line contouring
  • mental crease augmentation (chin groove)
  • nasal defects
  • and hands

Besides being very useful in reflating and reshaping parts of the body affected by aging, it has also been very helpful in treating the sometimes severe facial deflation seen in subjects who have HIV related lipoatrophy of the face.

One of its most recent uses has been in recontouring and reshaping the nasal bridge and supporting the bowing of the columella of the nose. In communities where the nasal structure is naturally flatter this has been particularly successful.

How It Works

Radiesse is a safe, FDA-approved, long lasting, but not permanent filler that is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite beads suspended in carboxymethylcellulose gel. These tiny calcium microspheres form a scaffold to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Over time, the calcium-based microspheres gradually break down and are safely and naturally absorbed by the body.

We find it to be very useful in individuals who have a very high metabolic rate and who seem to have difficulty keeping less sturdy fillers in their faces over a desired period of time.

Recovery and Results

Radiesse can last up to a year, but typically we see it lasting anywhere from 8-10 months.
