Photorejuvenation With Lumenis One & Quantum SR

Photorejuvenation using Intense Pulsed Light offers low-risk, minimum downtime in the treatment of age-spots and telangiectasia, or broken capillaries.  There is also a noticeable improvement in the overall quality and tone of the skin, resulting in the appearance of more youthful, even, and luminous skin.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) was a treatment that was first designed to strip the paint of airplanes! It has, however, been refined and adapted enormously in order to treat aging skin.  Large brown aggregations and large collections of over concentrated capillaries give an aging face a red plethoric and rather spotty look Uneven, rough-textured complexion signals age and fatigue. Many studies have shown that clear translucent skin of whatever colour is perceived as being young and attractive.

We usually treat individuals with 3-5 treatments of IPL and then recommend that they have a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months depending on their life style (i.e. spends a lot of time outdoors or in the sun).  We do also suggest that individuals use SPF 60 sunscreen if they are going to commit to this kind of treatment because we feel that maintenance and prevention are equally important.  Intense pulsed light treatments can be done on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, back, and legs.

This IPL technology represents one of the greatest advances in the treatment of aging skin, because the light energy that is applied to the skin is very effective in reducing both red and brown pigments and some of the longer wave lengths also stimulate new collagen formation so that the face becomes more coherent and luminous rather then dull and spotted.  IPL is one of the most  popular treatments in our Vancouver practice.
